In recent years I have received annoying chain letters in the post (paper mail) that promise "easy money" if you followed the simple instructions and became another link in the chain letter and sent out hundreds of letters. I will not go into details, but the idea seemed so simple and I almost believed that it would work. Needless to say I did not follow the instructions and filed the chain letter in the trash.
When I became part of the Internet community I did not think I would receive such letters as there are no simple ways of exchanging money amongst the Internet's users. How wrong could I be, within a week I had received a chain letter. It was different though, it wasn't a way to make money. I went into some detail about a young girl whose sad story ended with her brutal murder. My immediate reaction was to feel sorry for the girl. It went on to say that CNN would not cover the story and to send eMail to CNN (it gave the address) to try to make them tell the story. It continued to ask the reader to send on the chain letter to other people you knew on the Internet to create more awareness about the little girl's last days of suffering.
