I tried to do some research on the World Wide Web to see if the story of the young girl was true, but failed to find anything other than the homepage of the original sender of the chain letter. I began to wonder whether the story was true, and realise that chain letters of this nature was a great way of bombarding large companies with huge amounts of eMail and thus cause that company a lot of hassle. I did not send this particular chain letter on to anyone and that was the end of it as far as I was concerned despite not coming to any conclusion whether the story was true or not. If it wasn't true (more likely) I did conclude that the original sender of the chain letter had a very strange sense of humour and was so cruel to tell such lies.

A few months passed before receiving another chain letter. This time it was about a company that would give children free books and the more eMails the company received the more books would be given away. Again I was skeptical so I went in search of the companies involved on the Web. This time I found a better result and indeed it was true. This chain letter was genuine and children would benefit, unfortunately it was too late to send an eMail to help get more books, but at least I was happy with the fact that there are some chain letters that fulfil their promise of helping others. More details of this chain letter can be found at www.hminet.com.
